So you want to create a product to sell on the Internet. The way many people go about creating a product is something like this: they go with a 'gut feeling' of what they think will sell, don't do any market research, pour lots of capital in creating a product, have no marketing plan and just launch it out on the Internet. Then they wonder why they never sold a single copy of their product. The truth is that they lacked a plan.

There's a few useful online resources for researching the profitablity of a product idea. One I place I go to before creating any product is Amazon. Here you'll find out which topics currently touch on people's hot buttons at the moment. If you're creating say, a non-fiction information product, Amazon is a gold mine of ideas.
Another place to go to is the eBay Best Sellers list. Here you'll find out which are the top selling items on eBay. You can see category by category which products are selling the best. You can be sure that if a product is selling well, and if you create something complimentary to it or a similar product but with a unique twist, then you can be sure that your product will sell well.
